When we pulled the old shingles off this Frisco home, we found three layers stacked on top of each other. That's not unusual in older neighborhoods, but it is a problem. All that extra weight puts stress on the deck, and it hides damage that needs to be dealt with before anything new goes on top.

That's exactly why we always do a full tear-off. No layovers, no shortcuts. Once we got down to the deck, we could actually see what we were working with - check for soft spots, fix any damaged sheathing, and make sure the surface underneath was solid before moving forward. That's the part most homeowners never see, but it matters more than anything else.

After the deck was squared away, we installed synthetic underlayment across the entire roof. You can see the TopShield coverage laid out edge to edge before the new asphalt shingles went on. Synthetic underlayment is a big step up from traditional felt - it's tear-resistant, sheds water better, and holds up during installation if weather rolls through unexpectedly.

From there, we installed the new asphalt shingles. The finished product is clean, uniform, and built on a solid foundation - not just patched over whatever problems were hiding underneath. That's what separates a roof that performs for decades from one that causes headaches a few years down the road.

This is the standard we hold every residential roofing job to. Whether it's a straightforward replacement or something more complicated, we don't cut corners to save time. The work we do underneath the shingles is just as important as what you can see from the street.
